  • In his sermon in the Areopogas, Paul lays out the arc of history – past, present, and future (Acts 17:26-27, 31). What things are God’s responsibility (17:26, 31) and what are man’s (17:27, 30)? Does your personal view of history line up with Scripture?

  • What do we have to look forward to when Jesus returns (1 Pet. 1:4-5, 7, 13; 2:12; 4:5, 13; 5:4, 6)?


  • Read Col. 3:1-4 (cf.. How does Paul define what it means to be ‘self-controlled and sober-minded’ (cf. 1 Pet. 4:7)?

  • As a result of this mindset, what are we commanded to do (Col. 3:5, 12)?

  • Which of the things in Paul’s list sinful activities do you need to ‘put to death’ (Col. 3:5-9)? Which things in his list of Christ-like activities do you need to ‘put on’ (Col. 3:12-17)?

  • Spend some time in prayer, asking the Lord to put sin in your life to death and to put on the Lord Jesus (Rom. 12:14). Listen to His Mercy Is More by Matt Boswell and Matt Papa.


  • According Proverbs 10:12 and 17:9, what is the opposite of love that covers a multitude of sins?

  • How did Jesus love us in a way that covered our sin (Mark 10:45; Rom. 5:9; 1 John 1:7)

  • What do John 13:34-35 and Matt. 6:14-15 tell us about our relationship with the Lord and our relationship with other people (especially believers)?

  • Who do you need to forgive?


  • Read John 13:1-20 and listen to The Basin and the Towel by Michael Card. How did Jesus model hospitality to his disciples?

  • What is the difference between hospitality and entertainment?

  • Do you find it easy to show hospitality with a pure heart (Rom. 12:13; 1 Tim. 5:10; Heb. 13:2; 1 Pet. 4:8;; cf. 1 Tim. 3:2; Titus 1:8)?


  • Read 1 Cor. 12:4-11 and Rom. 12:3-8 to learn more about the gifts of Grace (or ‘of the Spirit’).

  • What are the two ways for evaluating whether gifts are being stewarded well in a local church (1 Pet. 4;10, 11)?

  • What should be our attitude to gifts (Rom. 12:3)? To whom have gifts been given (1 Cor. 12:7; 1 Pet. 4:10)? By whom (1 Cor. 12:11)?


  • Read Col. 1:15-19, Revelation 1:12-18, and Daniel 2:20-23.

  • Listen to Ancient of Days by CityAlight. Spend a few moments worshipping the Lord Jesus for his sovereignty, goodness, and wisdom.


  • Speaking and serving gifts (v11) seem to be broad types of gift – which do you have?

  • Will you pray for the Pastors, and teachers to “speak as it were the utterances of God”.  Read Ps 19:12-14.
